2016 – Buddy Hield (Oklahoma)
During his senior season at the University of Oklahoma, Buddy Hield won the Wooden Award for the best college basketball player for the 2015–16 season, after averaging 25 points, 5.7 rebounds, two assists per game, while leading the nation in three-point shots. His heroic efforts and clutch shooting at the end of games made him a household name in the days leading up to the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Hield’s Sooners made it to the Final Four, where they were defeated by Villanova University, the eventual National Champion. Hield was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the sixth overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft, but just one year later, he was the vital trade asset in a deal that brought All-star Demarcus Cousins to New Orleans, and sent Hield to the Sacramento Kings.
