2016 — Denzel Valentine
Valentine was one of those four year Spartans that did a little bit of everything under Tom Izzo. He averaged 19 points, 8 boards, and 8 assists as a senior All American, and the Bulls selected him with the last pick of the lottery looking for senior leadership and all around skill set.
Unfortunately for them, they got none of it. Valentine hasn’t translated as a creator, and injuries have hampered his ability to stay on the court, including missing this entire season with an ankle injury. Valentine has bounced in and out of the G League, and that’s certainly not the expectation for a senior taken in the lottery. He’s a bust.
