No, not Ralph Sampson. That was the three time College Player of the Year out of Virginia. Ralph Sampson was the number one pick and resides in the Basketball Hall of Fame. Ralph Simpson? Not so much. Simpson left Michigan State after two years for the ABA’s Denver Rockets (later the Nuggets) and was actually quite good, scoring 20 points a game and earning five All Star berths.

Unfortunately, this is an NBA article, and Simpson’s NBA career was nowhere near as successful. Simpson was the 11th pick in the 1972 draft but didn’t play in the NBA until the merger in 1976 and averaged only eight points a game once he got there, finishing with just 0.7 NBA win shares.
