Stephon Marbury
Stephon Marbury had a bad relationship with coach Larry Brown, publicly feuded with him, and got the coach fired. Then Isiah Thomas, the man who fired Brown, began coaching the Knicks. Of course, Marbury ended up feuding with him too. It got so bad that the two had a physical altercation while on the team plane. During the altercation, Marbury threatened to blackmail Thomas because he had benched Marbury. Eventually, Marbury ended up getting banned by the team from attending any Knick games or practices.
Where Are They Now: In February of 2018, Stephon Marbury told ESPN’s The Undefeated that, after a 22-year basketball career, most of which was played overseas in China, he was going to officially retire from professional basketball, having already turned 40 years old. Marbury won three titles in China, and told The Undefeated that he’ll move back to Los Angeles and stay in shape, “just in case” an NBA team decides to inquire about his services. Thankfully, “Starbury” is realistic in his beliefs that it’s not likely such an event would take place.
