Adrian Dantley
Anyone who either played on the “Bad Boy” Detroit Pistons of the late 1980’s would tell you that trading away Adrian Dantley – in exchange for Mark Aguirre – was the catalyst for the Pistons winning back-to-back NBA Championships.
Famed sportswriter Mitch Albom documented how Dantley was already known “as selfish, moody and a ball-hog when he arrived in Detroit,” and his clashes with Isiah Thomas was what eventually got him traded.
Where Are They Now: Dantley has returned to his native Washington, D.C. area in retirement, staying connected to the game of basketball by working as a referee for both high school and recreational basketball games in the hotbed of hoops talent that is our nation’s capital. He even works part-time as a crossing guard.
