Before Boston acquired Kyrie Irving via a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the #1 player on their target list during the 2017 NBA offseason was Gordon Hayward. The Celtics were able to reunite Hayward with his college coach, Brad Stevens, via a four-year, $128 million free agent contract. While Hayward rehabs from the gruesome broken leg injury he suffered in his first game in Boston, he’ll make more money than teammates Al Horford (the team’s max-contract signing in 2016) and Irving.
