The XFL has taken over sports watcher’s television sets this winter. The league has exciting rules changes that have made the game more interesting. Who really wants to see extra points anyway? The incredible sideline access to players and the coaching staff has brought a whole extra level of entertainment.
People knew these changes would make for an interesting product. What fans were not sure of is whether the quality would be high enough to pique the interest of hardcore NFL viewers. So far, the new league has passed that test also. It’s even nice to watch former college greats that didn’t make in the league, such as former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones and former Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones.
That got us thinking. What are some other names that the XFL should go after? We’re talking NFL players that are either recently retired or are playing in limited roles for their current teams. We put together a list of 30 players we think should be in an XFL uniform by the end of the season. Take a look and let us know what you think.
What a better place to restart a career than a reborn league? Trent Richardson is one of the biggest draft busts in NFL history. The Browns took him 3rd overall in 2012, but he lasted just 3 seasons in the league.
Despite his NFL failures, Richardson has talent. He won a Heisman Trophy at Alabama for crying out loud. Also, alternative leagues seem to suit him. He led the now-defunct Alliance of American Football in rushing touchdowns with 12. Somebody has to have an extra roster spot for Richardson.
