Of all the great players to play for the Duke University Blue Devils, Jay Williams was one of the most decorated ones in the program’s history. He was a two-time first-team All American, two-time NABC Player of the year, and a member of the team’s 2001 National Championship team.
After college, Williams was taken second overall in the 2002 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. But, after his rookie season, he was injured in a motorcycle accident, where he severed main nerve in his leg, fractured his pelvis, had dislocated ligaments in his left knee. While he tried to return to the NBA, he was never the same player after the injury. Williams is now a successful college basketball analyst for ESPN.
