2. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs (Stay-Away)
Obviously, nobody is expecting Mahomes to be a complete bust in 2019, but it’s a little foolish to expect him to replicate the kinds of numbers he posted last season. Let’s face it, how does anyone follow up over 5,000 yards passing and 50 touchdown passes. It’ll be almost impossible for him to match those numbers, and if you draft him with the expectation that he’ll equal that productivity, he will be a bust.
Keep in mind that the entire league has spent the off-season watching tape of Mahomes in search of any kind of weakness they can exploit. Odds are, they won’t find much. However, the league will make some adjustments to Mahomes, which is why you can expect some kind of drop-off in his productivity. In other words, if you think he’ll be the unquestioned no. 1 fantasy quarterback this season, think again.
