Any time NFL fans around the water cooler, on social media, or on popular message boards get together and talk about improving their team, one of the suggestions that inevitably comes up is “we should trade for/away that guy!”
While such ideas sound great in theory, some of those ideas could look very bad when judged through the lens of history. Every NFL team has made trades that looked great at the time, only to end up looking really bad when you take a look back.

32. Atlanta Falcons – Trading Brett Favre To The Green Bay Packers In 1992
When he was with the New York Jets, former NFL General Manager Ron Wolf lamented how he missed out on the chance to select a little-known quarterback from Southern Mississippi University named Brett Favre. But when Wolf arrived in Green Bay just one year later, he convinced the organization to trade away a first-round pick to acquire Favre from the Atlanta Falcons, where Favre spent his entire rookie year firmly planted on the bench thanks to head coach Jerry Glanville.
We all know how this story ends: Favre got the starting job in relief of injured quarterback Don Majkowski, and went on to be one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.
