Entering the 1999 NFL Draft, then New Orleans Saints head coach Mike Ditka openly declared that he’d trade an entire year’s worth of draft picks to move up to draft University of Texas running back Ricky Williams, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.

Not only did Ditka trade away every pick he had in the 1999 NFL Draft to the Washington Redskins, but he also traded away a first and third-round pick in the ensuing draft. After Williams ran less than 900 yards as a rookie, Ditka was fired after the season.
