15. Miami Dolphins – Trading Away Wes Welker
Wide receiver Wes Welker went from a special teams ace to an interesting slot receiver for the Miami Dolphins, despite the fact that the team almost cut him prior to the 2006 season. Miami eventually tendered a restricted free agent deal after that year to keep Welker, putting a “poison pill” clause for any team that tried to sign him.
But the New England Patriots wanted Welker enough to where they traded a second and seventh-round pick to acquire him. As we all know, he became an invaluable member of the great Patriots’ teams between 2007 through 2012.
