Carolina Panthers: Cam Newton’s Shoulder
Cam Newton says his shoulder is fine after off-season surgery, but this is probably a case of believing something when you see it. Even before the Panthers shut Newton down for the last two games of the 2018 season, it was obvious that his shoulder was a problem that was hindering his performance.
Newton is no spring chicken anymore, so we can’t just assume he’ll bounce back from the surgery with ease. He also can’t rely on his legs as much as he used to, so Newton will have to do more throwing from the pocket. Until he does that and proves that his shoulder is fine, it’s hard to consider the Panthers a legitimate contender in the NFC South.
