With the first and third picks in the 1983 NBA Draft, the Houston Rockets could have created a dynasty that would have rivaled that of the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics. They used the first pick on Ralph Sampson, who would end up in the Hall of Fame.

But with the 3rd pick, they not only passed on guys like Dale Ellis and Byron Scott, but also local University of Houston product Clyde “the Glide” Drexler. Drexler would go on to help lead the Portland Trailblazers to the NBA Finals, and get inducted into the Hall of Fame himself.
