San Francisco 49ers: Joe Montana, Jerry Rice
The 49ers have had some incredible quarterback-wide receiver combinations over the years. But there’s no way any of them could ever top Montana and Rice. The latter is undoubtedly the best wide receiver in NFL history while the former is easily a top-5 quarterback.
Naturally, the two were amazing together and probably the best passer and receiver duo in NFL history. Granted, Montana had already won two Super Bowls before Rice showed up in San Francisco. But the duo helped lead the 49ers to two more Super Bowls. Montana also won his only two MVP awards after Rice started to hit the prime of his career, coincidentally leading the NFL in receiving yards and touchdowns on Montana’s two MVP seasons.
