Can anybody even name a successful Jacksonville quarterback other than Brunell? Don’t you dare say Blake Bortles in 2017. Brunell gave the Jaguars nearly a decade of stability at quarterback, and Smith was his running mate for that entire time.

The 1996 season was Brunell’s first full season as Jacksonville’s full-time starter. He retained that job for seven seasons. Ironically, that season kicked off a string of seven straight seasons in which Smith had 1,000-plus receiving yards. He was the main man in Jacksonville for a long time, and it was Brunell getting him the ball, as the pair led the Jaguars to their only two division titles until Bortles and the Jacksonville defense did it in 2017.
