Elisabeth first caught the eye as Ralph Macchio’s love interest in the 1984 film, The Karate Kid. She played the love interest of another star, this time Tom Cruise, in the 1988 film Cocktail. These roles helped her land bigger roles in the Back to the Future films in the late 80s.

She broke out of her “girl-next-door” image with her performance as a prostitute in Leaving Las Vegas, where she starred opposite Nicholas Cage. The role earned her an Academy Award nomination. Recently, Shue has taken on a leading role in the superhero television series, The Boys.
