10) He was Tim Tebow’s backup at Florida

At one point, the quarterback depth chart for the University of Florida boasted three national championship winners: Chris Leak, Tim Tebow, and Cam Newton. In 2007, Newton was named as Tebow’s backup. Unfortunately for Cam, Tebow became one of the best college QB’s of all-time, leaving Cam with very few chances to step on the field. Things took a turn for the worst in 2008 when Newton was arrested and accused of stealing a laptop. It was later revealed that Newton wasn’t the person who actually stole the laptop — but he did purchase the stolen property. Although all charges against him were dropped, the damage was already done. Newton was excused from the team and forced to transfer to Blinn College (a small school in Texas).
