Tevin Coleman, and not Devonta Freeman has 1,000 yards rushing for Atlanta
Through the first five games of 2018, it’s running back Tevin Coleman who leads the Atlanta Falcons in rushing yards with 225. While that pace would put him short of 1,000 yards, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him continue to get more carries as Devonta Freeman continues to deal with an ailing knee injury that’s forced him to miss a large portion of training camp and the early part of the regular season.
Coleman is a free agent at season’s end, so he has all the financial incentives imaginable to be highly productive this year. The Falcons won’t have the cap space to resign Coleman in the offseason, so there’s no reason for the coaching staff to protect his long term health. Coleman is on pace to receive 230 touches, which would be 47 more touches than his previous career high.
