2. Randy Moss
In terms of pure talent, there may be no better receiver in NFL history than Moss. Physically, he had it all. He had good size at 6’4’’ and 210 lbs but Moss could also run and change directions like a smaller, quicker receiver. He could leap like no other, use his hands like no other, and he could make wild, acrobatic catches that no other receiver (except maybe Odell Beckham Jr.) could dream of making. When he was at his best, there was no stopping him. Cornerbacks knew they were beaten before the ball was even snapped. In short, Moss may be the most gifted athlete to ever step foot on an NFL field.
As a rookie out of little-known Marshall, Moss amassed over 1,300 yards receiving, a league-leading 17 touchdowns, and averaged 19 yards per catch. He had at least 1,200 yards in each of his first six seasons, leading the league in touchdown catches three times during that period. Just when people thought Moss had started to age and slow down, he teamed up with Tom Brady for 98 catches, nearly 1,500 yards, and an NFL record 23 touchdown catches during the 2007 season. That was his 10th season in the league, and only then did Moss deliver what was the tip of the iceberg that was one of the most impressive careers the NFL has ever seen. Whether the numbers match the talent can be debated, but there’s no denying that almost nobody in the history of football has been better at playing wide receiver.
