7. Cris Carter
If you watched ESPN’s Chris Berman deliver the highlights every Sunday night while Carter was playing, you know that “all he does is catch touchdowns.” He’s fourth on the all-time list for receiving touchdowns, so that moniker is difficult to dispute. However, catching touchdowns is not all Carter did. He possessed one of the best sets of hands in NFL history and was one of the most humble receivers in recent memory, especially considering all of the trips he made to the end zone.
After a somewhat modest start to his career with the Eagles, Carter took off soon after joining the Vikings in 1990. It was in Minnesota that he rattled off eight straight seasons with over 1,000 yards receiving while leading the league in touchdown catches three times. It was during that time that he became the first of only three players to have over 120 catches in more than one season. Of course, true to Berman’s much-repeated statement, Carter has the most touchdown catches in NFL history of seven yards or less and is tied for the most 1-yard touchdown catches.
