It takes a lot to get the attention of the entire NBA, meaning both players and fans. But when an 8-time all-star and former MVP is traded for a 9-time all-star, players around the league tend to take a break from their off-season plans to react. Such was the case when the Rockets acquired Russell Westbrook and sent Chris Paul and some draft picks to Oklahoma City. Here are just a few of the reactions players had on Twitter when they heard the news:
Current Rockets center Clint Capela tweeted: “What it dooooo brodieee!” at Westbrook joining him in Houston.
Atlanta point guard Trae Young said, “This League is crazy ya’ll…. But ya’ll already knew that!”
Wizards guard Bradley Beal commented, “This league boi!!!!!”
Dwayne Wade said simply: “Well Damn. I got so much to say of course on this CP3 trade but I’ll save my comments until I talk to my brother. All I know is my jersey swap collection is looking kinda bootleg since FA started. In 20 years ain’t no one believing those players played in those uniforms.”
Knicks forward Bobby Portis likened it to a video game, saying: “This summer was like a video game when you in season mode and you just draft yo own players lol”
Current free agent Jamal Crawford mentioned all of the action of the off-season thus far, saying: “Craziest NBA summer by far… And summer just started a few wks ago!! WOW…”
Clippers guard Patrick Beverley may have summed it up best: “This year about to be littt”
