Never underestimate the power of Twitter!

Houston Texans four-time Pro Bowl running back Arian Foster is very active on Twitter. Foster tweets multiple times throughout the day and has over 500,000 followers. On July 17th, Foster proved just how much he appreciates his fans by agreeing to pay for a Twitter follower’s college textbooks!

In an attempt to be funny, and definitely NOT expecting a response, Texans fan Ernesto Guerrero sent a tweet to Foster, asking if Foster would pay for his textbooks for the upcoming semester. Hours later, Foster shocked Guerrero, and all of social media, when he replied to Guerrero and asked how much the books would cost. Here are some of the tweets exchanged between Guerrero and Foster…

In an interview with Sporting News shortly after the Twitter incident went public, Guerrero expressed his thoughts on the situation, “To be honest, it was sort of a humor tweet. I never thought he would see it considering how busy he might be. When I saw that Arian replied to me, I was stunned. After I snapped out of it, I took a screenshot of the tweet and sent it to a group of friends of mine from college. They couldn’t believe it either. I was honored that he took the time to even read my tweet, let alone consider paying for my textbooks.”

However, there are limits to Arian’s power.

In 2012 Foster signed a five-year, $43.5 million contract with Houston. The cost of Guerrero’s textbooks won’t put much of a dent in Foster’s bank account, but this priceless gesture is surely something Guerrero will remember forever.
