If football is as American a sport as you can find, then certainly it’s cheerleaders are an American institution as well. From the youngest levels of pee-wee football into the NFL, cheerleaders roam the sidelines looking to stir up energy and enthusiasm from fans.
Cheerleaders in the NFL are a different breed from the rest though. They are paid professionals who are highly trained and terrific athletes. Sure, they show a bit more skin than the cheerleaders in the amateur ranks, but their duty is still the same. Pump up the crowd to support the team on the field.
We’ve taken a close look at all of the cheerleading squads in the NFL. It’s a tradition-rich history as old as the NFL itself. You’ll notice some teams are missing from this list. The Giants and the Browns are the only two NFL teams who have never had cheerleaders, while the Bills, Packers, and Steelers do not currently employ cheerleaders.
