It’s commonplace in the Untied States to avoid conversations about how much a person makes. Just like you’d never ask a person about the size of their house, or how much their home cost. But the Dutch take that precaution a step further.

In the Netherlands, it’s taboo to even ask someone what he or she does for work. So much for that ice-breaker. Maybe stick to less controversial conversation topics like the politics or religion.
