Carice Van Houten

If you aren’t Dutch or a fan of Game of Thrones, you may not be familiar with Carice van Houten. She’s a Dutch actress who is quite famous in her native Netherlands. She got her start in the late 1990s and has received Dutch television’s highest honor, the Golden Calf, a few times for her work.

In 2011, Van Houten was cast as the priestess Melisandre, which brought her to the attention of many American audiences. Her performance earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination.
