A common complaint from older generations is that the younger generations are soft and couldn’t have made it in their day and age.

This critique comes at every generation of young people from every generation older than them. It’s just what we do. We like to think we struggled through our youth while these punks have it easy.

Well, it’s partly true. As technology changes, our lives get easier. Future generations have don’t have to deal with things we did, but that’s progress and progress is good. However, each generation has new challenges that the older generation didn’t have to deal with.

This got us thinking and we put together a list of things that we had to deal with that kids today won’t even understand.

Worrying about a ride

Before apps like Lyft and Uber, where you can summon a driver to your exact location, how did people without cars get around? Sure, there are taxis, but those are only in big cities. Even smaller towns without taxi services have Uber and Lyft.

Teens these days will miss out on bumming a ride from a friend, or the age-old tradition of hitchhiking. Sure, you could still hitchhike, but please don’t. It’s just not safe.
