It became a running joke that as soon as Darrius Heyward-Bey ran the 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds at the 2009 NFL Scouting Combine, former Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis wouldn’t be able to stop himself from taking him. And that’s why they say the greatest source of all humor is the truth.

Davis commandeered the Raiders into making the mother of all reaches in the 2009 NFL Draft, using the 9th overall pick in the draft to take Heyward-Bey. And, in a fact that should surprise absolutely nobody, it was soon revealed that Heyward-Bey could run really fast, but couldn’t even catch a cold reliably. He had no more than 606 yards or four receiving touchdowns in three of his first four seasons in Oakland.
