Who knows how the career of wide receiver Yatil Green might’ve panned out in an alternate universe, given that there aren’t a lot of receivers who played for Steve Spurrier at the University of Florida that went on to have successful NFL careers. But that was far from what derailed Green’s career.
To say he had bad luck with injuries is like saying the Pacific Ocean is a body of water. In each of his first two training camps in the NFL, Green suffered catastrophic lower body injuries that wiped out his first two years in the NFL; in his first three years in the NFL, he had 10 surgeries on his right knee. After being drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1997, they cut Green at the end of the 1999 season.
