The fact that Lelie was taken only one spot ahead of future Pro Bowl receiver Javon Walker makes his selection by the Denver Broncos in the 2002 NFL Draft even worse than it already looks. Racking up huge numbers in June Jones’ all-passing offenses at the University of Hawaii, Lelie parlayed those numbers into being the 2nd receiver taken in his draft class.

The Denver Broncos drafted Lelie with the the 19th overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft, and while he did break the 1,000 yards receiving mark in 2004, he had a falling out with then head coach Mike Shanahan, leading the Broncos to trade him in August of 2006. By 2009, he was out of the NFL.
