Josh Doctson
When he fell to the Washington Redskins, who had the 22nd pick in the 2016 NFL, many people thought the Redskins might’ve taken the best receiver in that draft class. Favorably compared to an “AJ Green-lite” type of receiver, he was in perfect position to be groomed as the team’s #1 receiver of the future, while learning from a couple of veteran receivers (Pierre Garcon an DeSean Jackson) ahead of him.
But a series of mysterious ailments involving his Achilles’ tendons shelved him for almost the entirety of his rookie year, and when he finally did get on the field, he never seemed to earn the trust of then-quarterback Kirk Cousins. Considering multiple receivers in this draft class have fared much better in the league than Doctson, this pick looks like a big swing-and-miss for Washington.
