The #1 overall pick of the 1984 NFL Draft, Irving Fryar did go on to salvage what was ultimately a not-as-good-as-hoped NFL career, but that was mostly after his time in New England — who used said draft pick to take him — was over.

While playing for the Patriots, Fryar had only one season with 1,000 receving yards or six touchdown catches. Instead, most of Fryar’s time with the Patriots was marked by several incidents involving law enforcement, as well as other off-the-field issues.
