20. Nissan Armada
The Nissan Armada is notorious for its poor fuel economy. In 2016, MarketWatch included the Armada on a list of vehicles with the worst gas mileage, noting that the 2015 model “gets worse mileage than any other vehicle in its class.”
In 2019, Consumer Reports ranked the Armada as the least fuel-efficient mid-sized/large SUV with an overall average of 14 miles per gallon. The experts at Kelley Blue Book gave the 2019 Armada a decent rating overall but said it’s “a bit too fond of gasoline.”
Consumer Reports says the Armada’s redeeming feature is its 390 horsepower, 5.6 liter V-8 engine, which offers near-immediate responsiveness during acceleration and provides huge towing capacity.
However, with so many other SUV options on the market, you don’t need to invest in an over-sized gas-guzzler.
