Together, Laimbeer and Mahorn formed a brutal, integral core of the Piston’s team that would brutalize the NBA and win the 1989 NBA Finals. Later in his career, he would become a villain in Minnesota after refusing to play for the Timberwolves after they used their second expansion draft pick on him.
