Lauren Sesselmann was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and played her college soccer at Purdue University. She acquired Canadian citizenship through her father. With a call-up to the loaded United States team unlikely she used her new citizenship to make it into the Canadian National Team. With Canada, she picked up a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics and featured for Canada at the 2015 Women’s World Cup.

She was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2019. Not bad for an American.
