Even if you consider that J.J. Watt has missed the majority of the 2016 and 2017 NFL seasons with various injuries, we’re still talking about one of the greatest defensive players of this generation. Watt is the only player in NFL history to finish with more than 20 sacks in back-to-back seasons (2013 and 2014), and is one of only two players to be named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times (the other is Lawrence Taylor). Before his recent bouts with injuries, he was the unquestioned best defensive player in the NFL.
