Vernon Butler, 2016 (30th Pick)

In three seasons with the Panthers, Butler has just 45 tackles and two sacks. He hasn’t even started a game for Carolina in three seasons, which is embarrassing for any 1st-round pick. To be fair, the Panthers have always been strong defensively, so it’s not always an easy lineup to crack. But Butler hasn’t even been a regular in the defensive line rotation for most of his three seasons.

Since drafting Butler, the Panthers have signed both Dontari Poe and Gerald McCoy as free agents. Those two will keep Butler down on the depth chart heading into the 2019 season, which will likely be Butler’s last chance to prove he can play in the NFL.
