Dolphins Give Up Four Draft Picks for Ricky Williams

In 2002, the Dolphins gave up four draft picks, including a pair of first-round selections, to acquire Williams from the Saints. To be fair to Miami, Williams led the league in rushing that season. He had another productive year in 2003, despite averaging just 3.5 yards per rush. But it was all downhill from there. Williams had a series of failed drug tests followed by his infamous retirement in large part because of the failed drug tests. He eventually returned from retirement and had another 1,000-yard season in 2009. But considering the high price the Dolphins paid to get him, it really wasn’t worth it.
