Redskins Trade Champ Bailey to Broncos

This trade looked bad at the time and even worse in retrospect. Clinton Portis was just another in a long line of running backs the Broncos produced, and the team used him to acquire both Bailey and a second-round pick from Washington. Portis had some good seasons in Washington, but he was nothing special outside of Denver’s zone-blocking scheme. Bailey, meanwhile, spent nearly a decade anchoring Denver’s secondary as one of the best cover corners in the league, representing the Broncos at the Pro Bowl eight times.
