Lawrence Taylor earned his No. 2 overall draft selection immediately when he became the first player ever to win Defensive Player of the Year in his rookie season. He was so disruptive that in 1986 he won NFL MVP. He changed the game as far as defensive pass rushing schemes and offensive formations. He had to be accounted for on every single play.

He is often credited as the greatest defensive player of all-time and it’s easy to see why. A former teammate was once quoted as saying, “Lawrence Taylor, so strong, so invincible. He could do anything. He’d soar 10 feet in the air to block punts, leap over piles, tackle three people at once.”
