Ronnie Lott is one of the most feared defensive players of all-time. The Hall of Famer played 14 seasons in the NFL, most of the with the San Francisco 49ers where he won four Super Bowls. While playing at safety, Lott earned a reputation for being one of the hardest hitting defenders the league has ever seen.

Power in a tackle comes from a few things, but namely strength and speed. Ronnie Lott had both in spades. He was so tough, that after crushing a bone in his finger making a tackle, he had the tip of the finger amputated so he didn’t miss the beginning of the season. He was a different breed.
