In reality, you could ask the question as to whether Joe Flacco was really all that great of a quarterback to begin with. As the starting quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens, Joe Flacco only has one season where he threw for more than 4,000 yards, and only one season where he threw for more than 25 touchdowns; by comparison, 13 different quarterbacks threw for 25 touchdowns during the 2016 NFL season. Flacco gained his Super Bowl status after a hot streak during the 2012-2013 AFC playoffs, when he guided the Ravens to their eventual Super Bowl win. But after that, he’s been the same old below-average quarterback. During the 2017 season, Flacco’s 170 yards passing yards per game is ranked 33rd in the NFL.
