Jamaal Charles was always known for his slashing running style, facilitated by his world-class speed, when he was an All-Pro running back for the Kansas City Chiefs. Between 2009 and 2014, Charles ran for more than a thousand yards in five of six seasons. That one season where he didn’t run for more than one thousand yards was when he suffered his first season-ending torn ACL injury. But after the 2016 season, he actually had to have surgery on both knees — to clean up another torn ACL injury he sustained, and to repair a torn meniscus. Those surgeries sapped him of his game-breaking speed. He’s now a middling running back for the Denver Broncos, stuck in an ineffective timeshare for the football.
