James Harden (2009)

There’s a reason why Oklahoma City Thunder General Sam Presti is held in such high regard. In three consecutive drafts, he led the then-Seattle SuperSonics to drafting Kevin Durant (2007), Russell Westbrook (2008), and Serge Ibaka (2008), and capped it all off by taking a sweet-shooting two-guard named James Harden in 2009.

Presti rightfully avoiding selecting the highly-heralded Ricky Rubio, or doing something highly ill advised (like the Timberwolves taking Rubio and then Jonny Flynn in back-to-back picks). While Presti will be scorned for trading away Harden, he was responsible for unearthing a scoring dynamo who could go down as one of the five greatest shooting guards of all time.
