LeBron James often talks about fourth grade being one of the benchmarks of change in his life. He and his mother Gloria had bounced around from apartment to apartment, and at his current home, he was discovered by youth football coach Bruce Kelker. LeBron had never played football, but considered it his favorite sport at the time. Kelker purchased and stored LeBron’s football equipment, and drove him back and forth to practice. On his first handoff, LeBron ran 80 yards for a touchdown. That run was one of 17 touchdowns he scored in his first season.
