Of all the big names who were involved in baseball’s steroid scandal, nobody has been a more central figure in all of this than Barry Bonds. Bonds was described by one writer as “a polarizing, insufferable braggart with a legendary ego.” Others have described him as “difficult, surly, standoffish, and ungrateful,” among many other unsavory descriptions. And all of that doesn’t even touch on the fact that during his testimony in the BALCO case, as part of the ongoing PED probe in baseball, Bonds lied while under oath about his alleged use of steroids, saying he unknowingly took them.
