Bust #19: Marcus Mariota
Mariota had a storied college career at Oregon. He started 41 games over three seasons, leading the Ducks to a 36-5 record. He got better every season, culminating in over 4,400 passing yards and 42 touchdowns with just four interceptions during the 2014 season. Mariota also ran for over 700 yards in all three of his college seasons. He won the Heisman in 2014 while also leading Oregon to the national title game.
In the 2015 NFL Draft, Mariota was the second overall pick behind fellow Heisman winner Jameis Winston. Despite showing some signs of promise, Mariota never fully clicked in the NFL. Even in his third pro season when he helped the Titans reach the playoffs, he threw more interceptions than touchdown passes. He was eventually relegated to backup duties before getting another chance to be a full-time starter with the Falcons in 2022 but still struggled to lead his team to wins.
