As a junior at Brigham Young University, Ty Detmer put up one of the greatest seasons for a quarterback in the history of college football, throwing for 5,188 yards and 41 touchdowns in just 12 games, while setting or tying 47 different NCAA records that season.

But at only 6’0 and less than 200lbs, NFL scouts belied Detmer was way too small to play quarterback in the NFL, and he lasted until the 9th round of the 1992 NFL Draft. Detmer spent most of his career as a backup, save for a few stints with the six NFL teams for which he played. But, he never came close to accomplishing anything in the NFL like he did in college.
