Bust #5: Matt Leinart (2004)
As the field General for one of the greatest college football dynasties in modern history, Matt Leinart won the Heisman Trophy in 2004, and later won the National Championship the same year. After Leinart left USC for the 2006 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals selected him with the 10th overall pick, believing they had a can’t miss quarterback.
But Leinart struggled with injuries during his time in the desert, and by his own admission, spent more time enjoying the celebrity status he had gained at USC, never really taking his football duties as seriously as he should have. By 2013, he was out of the NFL.
