Jonathan James Scheyer is the only player in Duke history to record at least 2,000 points, 500 rebounds, 400 assists, 250 3-pointers, and 200 steals in a career. As the point guard and the team captain of the Blue Devils in 2009, he led the team to the 2010 National Championship, and won the NCAA Tournament’s MVP award.

But Scheyer’s accomplishments in Durham didn’t impress the NBA scouts, as he went undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft. After trying out for the league through the Las Vegas summer league, he was inadvertently poked in the eye by another player, and suffered a serious eye injury that ended his NBA hopes. Scheyer is currently an assistant coach of the Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball team.
